The Beach

Louder than thunder as it pulls at the shore

Sculpting the beach with a mighty roar

Rocks pushed around with effortless power

Like the displacement of petals of a windswept flower

As the wave hits the pebbles, there builds a crescendo of sound

Each pebble refined, reshaped, reground

Picked up, then slammed to the ground

Lost for ever, never to be seen again, never to be found

Each retreating wave becomes one with the sea

Releasing more pebbles, setting them free

And this cycle will repeat for ever more

Louder than thunder as it pulls at the shore
